Jenny's House, Selimiye special place is run by Jenny and her brother-in-law Salih, who worked for Jewel in the Crown as a holiday representative in both Goa and Turkey for 5 years, before deciding to go back to his family business and to look after his Mother.
Set in lush green gardens the 14-roomed, Jenny's House is superbly located on the main street of Selimiye village, only 50m from the harbour and the beach. Within a few minutes walk of the property there are a couple of mini-markets and a good choice of family-run, beach restaurants; our favourite, Ozjcan's, is next door. There is even a traditional-style cafe, where the men of the village meet and spend their days drinking tea and playing backgammon.
Jenny's House has a small swimming pool with a few sunbeds and umbrellas and guests can relax and enjoy their drinks from the small kitchen. Jenny, who is a fantastic cook, also provides an evening meal twice a week for which there is a local charge. The pool area is especially popular during mid-afternoon when Jenny serves one of her delicious cakes and tea; ex-pats who live in the village, often turn up in the afternoon for cake and a chat.
The rooms at Jenny's House, Selimiye are comfortable with double or twin beds, air-conditioning, en-suite SH & WC, some rooms can accommodate a third adult. Accommodation is offered on a Bed & Turkish Breakfast basis, with afternoon tea and cake included. Breakfast is typical village spread but the standard exceeds what's on offer in many Turkish restaurants or hotels and includes local yoghurt and honey, homemade bread, a selection of jams and marmalade and a choice of eggs.
Jenny's House is a very friendly, unique place run by people who can give you a true insight into traditional village life and comes highly recommended.
